Where Hope Begins

Themba means hope — and for us, hope starts with a full stomach.

Themba Hub was born right here in Cape Town, where many communities face daily hunger and hardship. I grew up in similar circumstances — there were times when food was scarce, and uncertainty hung in the air. But I was fortunate. My mother, a chef, could turn the smallest ingredients into something comforting, and my father always found a way to make ends meet. Somehow, we got by.

But so many others don’t.

In the townships and underserved areas of Cape Town, families go days without a proper meal. Children arrive at school too hungry to learn. The government systems meant to support them often fail to show up. And shelters, even when they exist, are overcrowded or unaffordable.

Themba Hub was created to step into that gap — to provide meals, dignity, and most of all, hope. It started as a small initiative, but the vision has always been larger. We’re working toward expanding into other struggling towns across South Africa, bringing nourishment and support to where it’s needed most.

We don’t just serve food — we serve community, connection, and the belief that everyone deserves a chance at something better.
